Grassroots ACTION! Phone calls, emails, and office visits to support dignity in Texas!

As illustrated by the huge rally on Saturday, Texans have drawn the line against TSA’s egregious abuse of power and the Department of Justice’s ‘no-fly zone’ threat! Governor Perry has said, on the record, that he will add this legislation to the special session if there is enough support from members of the House and Senate. Now it’s time for more GRASSROOTS ACTION!!

Monday

1) Call your Representative and Senator on Monday morning to express your support for HB 41 and SB 29, the anti-TSA groping bills. Ask where the Rep./Sen. stands on the issue.

*Find out who represents you here: http://www.fyi.legis.state.tx.us/
–Note their names, phone numbers, email addresses, and room numbers.

*If you are able to make it to the Capitol on Wednesday for a few office visits, during your phone call on Monday, let them know you’ll be stopping by to talk to someone about this important legislation. Let them know that you expect to find out where your Rep./Sen. stands on the issue when you see them Wednesday. These appointments are fairly casual. You and a staffer will sit down where you can express your opinions about the bills. They generally last less than 5 minutes.

2) Send an email telling your Rep./Sen. how you feel about HB 41 and SB 29. Also, insist on a response, including his/her position on this important legislation, in writing.

Wednesday–
Lobby Day!

TIME: Join us anytime between 10am-2pm
DATE: Wednesday, June 8th.
LOCATION: Rotunda of the Texas Capitol, Call or Text Heather Fazio if you have trouble 512-825-9142

Parking: http://www.tspb.state.tx.us/SPB/Plan/Parking.htm
Capitol Floor Maps: http://www.tspb.state.tx.us/SPB/Plan/FloorPlan/FlorPlan.htm

**Come prepared with your legislators’ room numbers and a hand written note on Wednesday. Express how you feel about TSA “pat-downs” and Texas passing a bill to prevent them.

We are encouraging office visits to your own Representative and Senator, as well as the Office of the Governor. Taking the time to talk to your elected officials (or staff) about why this legislation is important you and your family is the most impactful ways to let them know where you stand. Humanize

We’ll have maps, summaries of the bill, paper/pens for handwriting notes to legislators, and volunteers to point you in the right direction.

Remember:

1) Your Representative supported this legislation during the regular session;

2) Your Senator supported this legislation (unless his name is Whitmire) up until the night that the DOJ threatened us with a domestic “no-fly zone.”

*Don’t forget to always speak from your heart!*
